Are You Protected?
As we all know, there are a lot of computer viruses and other malware in the world today. A total of 45,190 unique malicious, advertising, and potentially unwanted programs were detected on users’ computers in April, according to Viruslist.com (a website maintained by Kaspersky Lab). But I bet a lot of you don’t know Microsoft Windows is not the only software affected by these. Other programs such as Mac OS, Adobe and even everyday websites are vulnerable to exploits and malware.
According to US-CERT, the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (a division of the Department of Homeland Security), exploits such Gumblar exist and are active. Gumblar operates in two stages. First, it seeks to compromise legitimate websites by injecting harmful code into them. Then, it will seek to spread itself to YOUR computer when you visit these websites through known vulnerabilities in PDF and Flash Player software. The malware can be used to monitor network traffic to capture sensitive information. It can even redirect Google searches, leaving you vulnerable to phishing and even more malware infections. The potential loss of revenue to your business could be devastating. What can be done about this?
When it comes to protecting your data, IT is all about risk management. Let LNI show you the steps to help protect your business and your revenue. Remember, the web can be a dangerous place. Make sure you’re protected.
